Characteristics of Needle Valves

They are characterized by having a closure element, plug or stem, with a sharp conical shape that closes against a cylindrical hole. Hence its name.

Its function, like most valves, is to regulate the fluid that passes through a circuit safely and efficiently.

They have a recommended flow direction and are suitable for both blocking and regulation, being able to work in any intermediate position of the rod stroke. It takes between 4 and 8 or more turns to go from full open to close.

Needle valves are generally used in instrumentation and small process lines. Through their different configurations, ABAC’s cover a wide field of applications, namely:

VA1 Block needle valves
Robust, of general application. They combine the tightness of its needle configuration with a great capacity of passage.
Available in carbon and stainless steel AISI 316. Maximum working pressure: 6000 psi.

VA2 Screwed bonnet needle valves
Bar or forged body and threaded bonnet, with counter-lock. They comply with both blocking and regulation requirements.
They are used in sampling lines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, test benches, panels, manifolds, laboratory applications, etc.
Different materials and gaskets. Maximum working pressure: 6000 psi.

VF2 Integral bonnet needle valves
The forged body with integral bonnet gives it great strength and, at the same time, reduces the possibility of losses. Fine flow control and tight lock.
They are used in instrumentation air lines, samplers, chromatography, panels, etc.
Different materials and gaskets. Maximum working pressure: 5000 psi.

VTM Sampling cylinders valves
Specially designed to be used in sampler cylinders, where a tight seal, low operating torque and confidence of multiple operations without leakage is essential.
Made of AISI 316 stainless steel. Maximum working pressure: 3000 psi.

VAP-VMP-VHP Shutoff needle valves for medium and high pressure
Specially designed to withstand the highest pressure requirements (from 15,000 to 30,000 psi). They have a metal-to-metal seal with a hardened shutter for maximum service life.
NPT and Cone-Thread Connections.
