What are Sealing and Condensate Pots used for?

Sealing Pots or Bottles are accessories used as part of the instrumentation in all those applications where direct contact of the process fluid and the sensing elements is NOT recommended, such as high temperature, toxic or corrosive service.
They are used with an immiscible (non-mixable) sealing fluid such as glycerin. The difference in density with the process fluid will provide a barrier to the pressure instrument.

On the other hand, Condensate Pots are used to store condensation, deposits or other elements that could damage the instruments or impair their measurement accuracy. For example, for gas, they are used below the sensor, accumulating condensate so that only gas reaches the instrument and no liquid accumulates in the pressure lines.

With steam service, the Pots are placed above the instrument, and the condensate is used as a seal to prevent live steam from affecting the sensors.

The Bottles are mounted in a horizontal position to reduce measurement error, and generally with a drain valve – manual or automatic – from the lower connection, which acts as a drain port.

ABAC manufactures Sealing and Condensate Pots standard and under customer specifications.
