What is the Gauge Siphon for?

ABAC’s CV Gauge Siphon is used to protect pressure gauges and other instruments from the high temperature that comes from hot fluids such as boiler steam. The device allows condensate to form and accumulate within it, preventing live steam from coming into direct contact with and damaging the pressure instrument.

The CV replaces the old siphon or “pig tail” model, frequently used in boiler installations and improves its role. Due to its smaller size, it brings the pressure gauge closer to the pipe, thus reducing the jolts of the measuring element in lines subject to vibrations.

Every instrument has a maximum operating temperature, where its precision is maintained, informed by the manufacturer. Any rise in temperature will strongly affect the accuracy of the measurement, especially in the case of “bourdon” type pressure gauges. Consult the graph found in the catalog to determine the temperature your instrument will be subjected to based on the temperature and pressure of the measured steam.

ABAC has the device in carbon steel or stainless steel, with 1/2″ NPT M-F connections and a maximum pressure of 3000 psi. Get to know it in detail.
